The subject woke twice in the last week, both times without any sign of basic rational. His behavior seems unpredictable and irregular. The first time, he nearly broke the barriers in his containment cell. If I hadn't arrived shortly after his arousal with a heavy dose of stabilization serum, he surely would have caused considerable damage to my lab and most likely have
escaped back into the wilderness. Despite being in a continuous state of inactivity for several days, he had tremendous strength and determination shortly after emerging from his slumber. During the second period of consciousness, the subject seemed very calm as if he had accepted his new environment or was unaware that he would act otherwise. He didn't stay awake long, most likely due to the heavy dosage of drugs that I've been using to keep him sedated up until this point. I've yet to determine exactly how the subject was able to awaken under these doses, but the drastic improvement in his behavior along with the fact that he seems to be acting independently of the drugs in his system are reason enough to reduce his doses for the time being.

Since the introduction of the new hybrid stabilization drugs, the subject seems to be drifting aimlessly between his human and animal form. I've started to detect signs of rationality along with an advanced level of self-awareness. I can't decide whether he is still unable to communicate normally while in his human form or is simply withholding signs of social understanding. Most importantly, he does not appear to perceive me as his capture since I am providing for his basic needs. I still cannot provide him with any amount of freedom but am willing to allow for certain exceptions in order to earn his trust.
The work on my own formula is well under way. Time is short and although it would prove useful to have a sidekick in my endeavor, it is more important that I prepare for a successful transformation. Unfortunately I still lack the necessary resources to complete the process. Due to the nature of the alteration, I require a somewhat more robust magical stockpile.

Extensive studies of the subject have led to the confirmation of the theory that he is tied, quite by accident, to the younger patients that received their alterations in the same session. It is with this knowledge in mind that I convinced him that they were being held captive in the Collectors' kingdom, which helped give cause to his sudden need to travel north with such urgency. A rescue mission, I explained, is quite suicidal and without the necessary magical wards, the giants would make short work of him. However, with specific magical supplies, I would be able to help prepare such wards. He has agreed to journey into the Collector's realm in order to gather these supplies for me.

The subject is due back from his final raid on the Collectors' kingdom with the last of my magical provisions. It seems that I did not accurately foresee the timely consequences of making such trips into their realm which has, in turn, shifted my plans to a much later date than I would have liked. Nonetheless, there is still sufficient time before my new abilities will be required, I may simply have to arrive slightly more unprepared.
